The Importance of Critical Thinking in Science 977 Words4 Pages Critical thinking is a very important concept in regards to science. especially since science and the concepts therein have been fluctuating from the time of their origins.

Critical thinking is crucial for many career paths. Not just for scientists. but lawyers. doctors. reporters. engineers. accountants. and analysts (among many others) all have to use critical thinking in their positions.

From as far back as the 1980s. many researchers have cited the importance of critical thinking in the citizens of modern societies. Given this importance. the merits of including critical thinking as a major objective at various levels of the education system and in different subject areas of the school curriculum have been extensively argued.

The development of beliefs based on critical reasoning and quality data is much closer to a science-based approach to critical thinking. While scientists certainly do ‘argue’ amongst themselves. helping students frame that disagreement as being between data rather than people is a very simple way to teach critical thinking through science.
